The former Indian player and current National Cricket Academy head has been awarded with one more responsibility and that is to act as head coach for the Indian team for the upcoming tour of New Zealand in absence of Rahul Dravid.
Rahul Dravid along with other senior players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin has been given rest after the team’s exit from the Semi-finals of the T20 World Cup.
Against New Zealand, it will be a six white ball game which will also include three ODI’s as well as three T20I matches starting from November 18th, 2022. According to BCCI source told the Press Trust of India,
“The NCA team headed by Laxman with Hrishikesh Kanitkar(batting) and Sairaj Bahutule (Bowling) will join the New Zealand -bound squad”
Previously, Laxman had already led the team during the home series against South Africa, then Ireland and then Zimbabwe which was quite a successful one.
So, your question would be from when will the original player take place?
It will be right before the Bangladesh Series where head coach Rohit, Rahul, Ashwin, and Kohli will be present as usual. The series against Bangladesh would be a three ODI and a two-test match affair and will start from December 4th this year.
The departure of the Indian team from the T20 World Cup wasn’t great at all, and probably would be under deep distress at the moment. With the match against England, India somehow with loss of 6 wickets, scored 168 runs, but in response the English without even losing a wicket, thrashed the Indian side marking their presence in the semi-finals.
